I developed a love of art from an early age watching my Father paint and sketch.
My passion for painting grew after a sports injury in my teens prevented me from doing physical activity for several months so instead of spending hours on the sports field, I filled my time with extra art tuition.
Although I turned to Industrial Design as a career, I have never stopped painting and have continued to develop my skills and versatility over the years through a variety of mediums and subjects.
I have worked in watercolour, acrylic and oils studying subjects as diverse as wildlife, sports and landscapes.
Despite exploring new subjects and media I always return to my favourite which is classical landscape painting in oils. This is certainly motivated by my love of walking and other outdoor pursuits.
Observing the changing character of the sky is an incredibly important part of developing a piece for me as this sets the whole mood of a painting.
My work has been exhibited nationally and often receives commendations from judges in open exhibitions I have taken part in.
